Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kerron Kangal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Satoru Takada!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Columbo Gatti and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kangal closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Kangal wants to get back to striking at distance but Takada won't allow it.
Takada lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.


It looks like Kerron Kangal has been cut.
Takada comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Kangal trying to land knees to the body.
Takada prevents a takedown attempt there.
Kangal has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Takada after a bit of a struggle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Takada works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Kangal is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Takada is defending well.

Kangal is working for takedown but Takada is calmly controlling the position for now.

Takada stands up and waves to Kangal to follow him.

Takada throws a low kick but Kangal avoids it.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kangal has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Takada is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

We've been informed that Takada has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Takada throws the left hand but Kangal avoids the punch easily.
Kangal seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Satoru Takada seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Kangal throws a quick inside leg kick.
Kangal looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Takada lands an elbow that stopped Kangal in his tracks for a moment.
Oh Kangal is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Takada stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Takada throws a right hand that Kangal ducks under and follows up with a left that Kangal also avoids with ease.
Kangal half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Takada tests Kangal's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Takada fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Kangal stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Takada.
Kangal gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Takada.

Takada lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

A punch lands to the side of Kangal 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Takada throws a right hand that Kangal ducks under and follows up with a left that Kangal also avoids with ease.
A nice leg kick lands there from Takada.
Takada misses with a straight left.
Kangal drops down looking for a counter takedown but Takada sprawls and moves away.

Takada cracks Kangal with an open hand slap.

Takada lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Kangal ducks right into an uppercut from Takada.

Takada tries to keep at a distance but Kangal has taken the fight into the clinch.
With the fighters up against the cage, Takada throws an elbow but misses.
Kangal takes an elbow to the temple.
Kangal jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Takada walks away with a smile on his face. Kangal gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Takada closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Takada scores with a jab to the jaw.
Takada throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Takada tries to clinch but Kangal is having none of it.

Kangal moves into the clinch.
Takada prevents a takedown attempt there.
Kangal blocks an elbow strike from Takada.

Takada lands a damaging elbow.
Takada presses Kangal against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Kangal decides to pull guard.
Kangal controls Takada momentarily but Takada frees himself.

Takada gets to his feet. Kangal looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Takada.

Takada breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Takada fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Takada dips to his left and cracks Kangal with an uppercut!

Kangal closes the distance and pushes Takada back into the cage.
Satoru Takada is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Takada is leaning against Kangal and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
Takada is struggling to control the position.
Takada lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

And that's the end of the fight!
Satoru Takada comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
