The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Patton scores with a body shot.
Smith closes the distance and clinches up with Patton, looking for a takedown. Smith pushes Patton against the cage but Patton circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Smith blocks a head kick by Patton.

Patton lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Patton stalks Smith and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Smith's face. Smith staggers backwards, shaken.
Patton tries to bum rush Smith with a series of wild strikes but Smith uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Patton counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

Patton will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Smith up against the cage.
I was talking to Smith's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
