PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Dijoban Totohami (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Benjamin Tuomioja (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tuomioja is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by The boys are back in town. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dijoban Totohami!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Benjamin Tuomioja!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Shirou Masuda and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tuomioja digs a good body shot into Totohami's ribs.
Totohami looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Totohami is looking to slow Tuomioja down with leg kicks.
Tuomioja has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Tuomioja throws a series of punches but Totohami moves out of range.
Tuomioja lands the left hand.
Totohami moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Totohami avoids a punch combination nicely.
A head kick misses from Totohami.
Tuomioja on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Totohami ducks under a wild hook from Tuomioja.
Tuomioja takes a shot to the body in his stride.

Totohami closes the distance and pushes Tuomioja back into the ropes.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Tuomioja lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Totohami doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
A battle for position here, against the ropes.

Tuomioja breaks the clinch.
Totohami smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Tuomioja avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Totohami has closed the distance and engaged Tuomioja in a clinch.
Totohami is trying to stall.
Tuomioja lands with a short punch from the clinch.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Tuomioja is trying to trip Totohami. He has hold of a leg but Totohami is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Tuomioja persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Totohami wants to stand but Tuomioja is controlling the position.
Tuomioja with a flurry of punches that miss.
Tuomioja trying to control the position from guard on top but Totohami is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Tuomioja trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Tuomioja throwing strikes but missing.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Tuomioja accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Totohami is breathing heavily.
A lazy body kick from Totohami
and Tuomioja counters with a straight right hand.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Totohami throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Tuomioja counters with a series of strikes that sends Totohami to the canvas! Tuomioja follows down into guard, looking to finish the fight!

Tuomioja is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Totohami can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Tuomioja controls the pace.
Totohami can't keep his opponent in guard - Tuomioja advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Tuomioja is controlling the pace.

Tuomioja seems to be working for a kimura but Totohami defends the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Tuomioja stops Totohami from getting back to his feet.

Tuomioja looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Tuomioja has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Benjamin Tuomioja dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Tuomioja throws a series of strikes that have Totohami backpedaling.
Totohami buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Totohami throws a head kick that misses
and Tuomioja counters with a right hand to the body.
Totohami throws a leg kick which misses Tuomioja's front leg but catches the back leg as Tuomioja tries to avoid it.
Totohami throws a series of punches but Tuomioja moves out of range.
Tuomioja doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Tuomioja throws a right and a left that both miss.
Totohami takes one to the chin there.

Tuomioja moves into range and throws a big uppercut. OH! Totohami goes down! Can Tuomioja finish him!?


Totohami is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Tuomioja slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Oh Totohami is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Tuomioja is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Totohami is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Tuomioja works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Totohami takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tuomioja cracks Totohami with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Tuomioja immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Totohami is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Tuomioja!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:20 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Benjamin Tuomioja!
Benjamin Tuomioja decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
