PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Matt Leach (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sean Foster (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leach comes into the arena with Wiki - Wikispeaks blaring out of the sound system. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matt Leach!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Sean Foster!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Leach throws a one two combo.
Foster just misses with a punch to the body.
Leach will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Leach lands with a nice combination. Foster backs away looking to recover.
Leach rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Foster moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Foster falls off balance throwing a combination
and Leach counters with a left and a right that stings Foster.
No luck for Foster with that takedown attempt.

Leach throws a right and a left that both miss.
Foster slips a jab and a cross from Leach.
Leach displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Foster.
Leach throws a big counter combination but Foster scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Leach lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Foster backs up against the cage.
Leach leaves Foster with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Matt Leach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sean Foster.
Foster looks to clinch
and Leach counters with a two punch combo.
Leach throws a series of punches but Foster avoids them all with ease.
Leach really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Foster tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Leach defends well and Foster ends up having to push Leach into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Leach throws a combination. Foster tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
We've been told by Leach's head coaches at MMA Sanok Training Center that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Foster shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Foster shoots in looking for a takedown but Leach manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Foster's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Foster now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Leach leaves Foster with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Leach stalks Foster and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Foster's face. Foster staggers backwards, shaken.
Foster doesn't manage to clinch there - Leach circles away.

Foster tries to score a power double leg takedown but Leach sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Foster somewhat.

and Leach counters with a left and a right that stings Foster.
Foster looks for the body kick but Leach saw that one coming.
Foster misses with a takedown
and Leach counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Foster looks winded!
Foster misses with a jab, cross combination.
Leach dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Foster tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Leach paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Leach is looking for a counter combo.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Foster doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Leach counters with a series of strikes. Foster will be more careful next time no doubt.

Leach drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Leach seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Foster is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Leach is aware though and is defending well.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
We've been informed that Foster has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Foster has his foot on Leach's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Leach works his way back into a safe position though.

Leach shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Leach showed some decent athleticism there.
Leach will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Leach takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Leach's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Leach is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Foster can do to turn this around?
Leach seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Foster for as long as he can get away with.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Leach has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Foster moves in looking to clinch but Leach pushes him off.

Foster throws a right hand that Leach ducks under and follows up with a left that Leach also avoids with ease.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

It looked like Leach was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Foster shoots in looking for a takedown. Leach tries to sprawl out of it but Foster keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Leach manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Matt Leach is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Foster seems to have recovered his senses.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Well Leach has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
