PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Shephard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Freddy Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shephard's entrance music is You All Everybody. A fine choice. There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 21 - 13 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jack Shephard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Freddy Steel!
The judges for this bout are Ryoma Takatsuka, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shephard feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Steels jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!


It looks like Freddy Steel has been cut.
Shephard slips under a jab from Steel.
Steel rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Shephard counters with a nice body shot.
Shephard misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Steel connects with the punch.


It looks like Jack Shephard has been cut.
Steel ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Shephard moves away.
Steel has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Shephard chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Steel can pounce on him.

Shephard shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Steel's guard.
Shephard throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Steel works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Shephard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Steel has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Shephard is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Shephard's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Shephard uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Steel.
Steel looks to land a combination but Shephard avoids it well.
Shephard lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Shephard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Shephard darts in and out, connecting with a jab.


That has opened up Freddy Steel's cut even more.
Steel feints and then cracks Shephard's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Shephard down.
Shephard takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Freddy Steel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Steel lands a jab-cross combination.
Shephard just misses with a punch to the body.
Shephard gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Shephard shoots in and gets a takedown into Steel's guard.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Steel breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Shephard checks the leg kick nicely there.

Steel takes a jab right on the kisser.
A nice inside leg kick there by Steel. That's going to slow Shephard down.
Shephard checks a leg kick nicely.
A counter left hand to the body from Shephard misses its target.
Shephard throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Steel is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Shephard.
Steel wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Steel slips a jab and a cross from Shephard.
Shephard on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Good exchange - Steel coming out on top.


Jack Shephard's cut is getting worse.
Shephard swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Steel misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shephard missing with a left hand there. Steel was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Steel doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Steel throws a head kick but Shephard moves out of range.
Shephard is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Steel.
Steel lands a nice hook to Shephard's body. Shephard takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Steel uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Shephard.
Steel darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Steel keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Shephard.
Nice defenses there by Shephard.
Steel lands a jab-cross combination.


Jack Shephard's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Shephard scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Steel misses with a double jab
letting Shephard counter with a right hand.


The cut above Freddy Steel's eye is starting to cause him problems now.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Steel misses with a few strikes there.
Shephard throwing a counter right hand but Steel manages to avoid it.
Shephard cracks Steel with an open hand slap.
Steel takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.


Freddy Steel's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Freddy Steel's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:29 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Jack Shephard!
Jack Shephard decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
