Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Juji Gatame (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Hoffman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gatame comes to the cage accompanied by Storm. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gatame thuds a left hand into Hoffman's body.
Gatame misses with a series of wild punches.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hoffman! But no joy.
Gatame seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Hoffman connects with an inside leg kick.
Gatame misses with a straight right.
Gatame moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Hoffman fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Gatame manages to avoid it.
Hoffman throws out a loose jab but Gatame uses good head movement to avoid it.

and Hoffman counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Hoffman takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.

Hoffman throws a shot from downtown. Gatame moves away and avoids it.
Hoffman loads up on a big right hand but Gatame slips the punch.

Hoffman takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Gatame takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Hoffman tries to move into range but Gatame moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Hoffman lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
A nice leg kick lands there from Gatame.
Hoffman lands a slapping body shot.

Hoffman has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Gatame.
Gatame tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Hoffman is able to avoid easily.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Gatame, as that shot connected.

Gatame throws a hook but Hoffman blocks it.
Jack Hoffman is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Gatame counters with a shoot takedown. Hoffman fights it but they end up in guard.

Gatame has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Hoffman utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Gatame's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Hoffman is looking to stand up but Gatame isn't so interested in that idea.
Gatame postures up and lands a big shot to Hoffman's brow.

Hoffman wants to stand and escape but Gatame is having none of it.
Hoffman told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet.

Gatame slips a nice elbow through Hoffman's hands, connecting with Hoffman's forehead.
Hoffman is trying to stand back up but Gatame is controlling him
Hoffman has hold of Gatame's hands but Gatame slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Hoffman wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Gatame will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Gatame wants to control the pace but Hoffman is squirming around nicely.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Hoffman can do anything to dispel that myth.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Gatame has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hoffman's face.

Gatame has control of Hoffman's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hoffman regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Gatame is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Hoffman has managed to escape the submission attempt.

Gatame is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Hoffman is surviving well by controlling Gatame's body position as best he can.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gatame lands a heavy elbow.
Gatame lands a big shot there that rocks Hoffman but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Gatame lands a nice shot to the head.

Gatame gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Hoffman gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!

After the fight, Jack Hoffman was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
