Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Malcolm Townsend (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Riki Maru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Maru has chosen Chris Brown - Ayo as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Malcolm Townsend has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Malcolm Townsend seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Townsend stuffs the takedown attempt from Maru. Maru gets slowly back to his feet.
Townsend uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Maru.

Malcolm Townsend has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Riki Maru.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Maru clobbers Townsend with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
It looks like Malcolm Townsend has been cut.
Maru shoots in looking for a takedown. Townsend tries to sprawl out of it but Maru keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Townsend manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Maru doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Townsend counters with a solid body kick.
Maru moves into range and clinches up with Townsend.
Townsend blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Maru wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Maru is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Townsend is defending well for now.
Townsend tries to throw a body punch but Maru avoids it by throwing Townsend back against the cage.

Maru changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Townsend fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Maru is looking to clinch but Townsend is avoiding it.
Townsend attempts a counter takedown but Maru avoids it well and moves away.
Maru fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Maru shoots in for a takedown but Townsend shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Maru will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Maru changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Townsend tries to avoid it but Maru manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Townsend to the ground. Townsend escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Maru.

and Townsend counters with a straight right hand.
Maru misses with a few strikes there.
Maru closes the distance looking to clinch
and Townsend counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.
Townsend leaves Maru with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Townsend went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Maru fails in his attempt to clinch.

Townsend rushes Maru and presses him up against the cage.
Maru tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Townsend's elbow.

Townsend jumps into guard, dragging Maru to the mat.
Maru works over Townsend with some ground and pound from guard.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Townsend is sitting in close to Maru's body. Maru has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Townsend is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Townsend is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Maru.
