Steamboat has chosen Lorde - Tennis Court as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Clinton West!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Ricky Steamboat!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Luis Engracia and Edson Gomes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steamboat shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts West as he jumps to the side.

Steamboat fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging West to the ground. Steamboat is now in West's guard.
West has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.

West looking for a guillotine here but Steamboat defends easily.
Steamboat loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Steamboat working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of West's head.

West escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Steamboat gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Steamboat with a nice head shot there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Steamboat chips away with some ground and pound.
Steamboat postures up and lands a big shot to West's brow.
Steamboat lands a couple of elbows.
Steamboat content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground!
Steamboat looking to pass the guard.
West trying to keep a closed guard but Steamboat is proving a slippery customer.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steamboat passes West's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Steamboat scoring with strikes to the body and head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
West has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Steamboat is working away from the top position though.
West taking some punishment here, with Steamboat in his half guard.
Steamboat winds up and cracks West with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Steamboat is nestled in close to West, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Steamboat works his way into full mount!
West can't escape the position.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Steamboat cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Steamboat with shots to the head and body - West looks very uncomfortable down there.
West is working to get back to half guard.
Steamboat fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Steamboat is landing with some decent strikes but West is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.


West is rocked!
Steamboat landing punches.
Oh West is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Whack. That's a big, big shot from Steamboat! West is out cold! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Ricky Steamboat!
