Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Pablo Escobar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William McDougal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pablo Escobar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, William McDougal!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Roger Salmon and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escobar avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

McDougal drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
McDougal misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

My spies in Gracie Barra Hilo inform me that McDougal has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

McDougal is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Escobar is just riding it out for now. McDougal eventually gives up the hold.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McDougal is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Escobar is just riding it out for now. McDougal eventually gives up the hold.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Escobar fails to land with a series of punches.
McDougal wants to counter the offense by Escobar and move into the clinch position.
McDougal moves in looking to clinch but Escobar pushes him off.
McDougal stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and McDougal wants it to stay on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Escobar passes McDougal's left leg - he's now in half guard.

William McDougal showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!



McDougal closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - McDougal lands in his opponent's guard.
McDougal must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

McDougal is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Escobar rolls with it to try and escape but McDougal cranks on the arm and Escobar is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
