PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kaye Wong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brutus Kowalski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kowalski is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Pantera - Fucking Hostile. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kaye Wong!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Brutus Kowalski!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Bruno Lombardi and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wong takes one to the chin there.
Kowalski keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Kowalski has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Wong is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Kowalski on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Wong scores with a jab.
Wong throws a body punch but Kowalski moves out of range.
Kowalski throws a right and a left that both miss.
Wong throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Kowalski connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Wong momentarily.
Nice body kick there by Kowalski.
Kowalski misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Kowalski throws a head kick but Wong moves out of range.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Kowalski stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Kowalski fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wong.
Wong throws a hook but Kowalski avoids it easily.
Kowalski feints and then cracks Wong's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Wong down.
Kowalski takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Wong circles away from the clinch attempt.
Wong looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Wong's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kowalski connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Wong scrambles back to his feet.

Kowalski looks to throw the jab but Wong is out of range.
Wong misses with a wild body shot.
Wong lands a head kick. Kowalski smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Wong smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Wong tries to bum rush Kowalski with a series of wild strikes but Kowalski uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Wong sets himself, and Kowalski steps forward looking for the clinch! Wong avoids it this time.
Kowalski walks into a stiff left hand from Wong.

Kowalski rushes Wong and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Kowalski lands a body punch.
Wong is breathing heavily.
Kowalski slowing the pace effectively.
Kowalski lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Still in the clinch, Kowalski scores with a nice short uppercut.
Kowalski swings wildly with an uppercut but Wong uses good head movement to avoid it.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Kowalski.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kowalski tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Kowalski misses with a shot to the kidneys.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Wong tries to break free but Kowalski pushes him back against the cage.
Kowalski lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Wong.

Wong manages to break the clinch.
Wong cracks a nice hook into Kowalski's ribs.
Kowalski dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Kowalski fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wong manages to avoid it.
Wong jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Wong lands with a hook. Kowalski tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Kowalski moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Kowalski cracks Wong with a right hand to the side of the head.
Nice uppercut lands for Wong. That snapped Kowalski's head back.
Wong misses with a wild combination.
Kowalski takes a swing at Wong's ribcage but misses.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Wong lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Wong misses with a jab, cross combination.
Wong scoring well with a low kick there.
Kowalski chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Kowalski misses with an attempted mid kick.
Kowalski connects with a body shot.
A head kick from Wong lands but Kowalski takes it in his stride.
Kowalski misses with a wild body shot.
Wong avoids a kick to the body.

Kowalski throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Wong was covering up waiting for the punch and Kowalski finishes the takedown easily into guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kowalski postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Kowalski's corner is telling him to maintain position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brutus Kowalski dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Kowalski, as that shot connected.
Kaye Wong is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A head kick from Wong lands but Kowalski takes it in his stride.
Kowalski throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
As Kowalski tries to get set, Wong tries to push him back and clinch up but Kowalski manages to avoid the attempt.
Wong takes one to the chin there.
Wong throws a right hand that Kowalski ducks under and follows up with a left that Kowalski also avoids with ease.
Wong takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Wong takes one to the side of the head.
Wong misses the shot to the body.
Wong lands a nice looking body shot.
Kowalski tries to score with a low kick but Wong moves his leg out of the way.
Brutus Kowalski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kowalski takes one on the button.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kowalski goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Kowalski dances in with a quick combination. Wong is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Kowalski snaps Wong's head back. Wong stumbles backwards against the cage. Kowalski steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Wong's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Wong just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Brutus Kowalski!
Brutus Kowalski bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
