PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hai Collier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Ohara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that James Ohara was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Hai Collier!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Ohara!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Collier gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Collier tries to keep at a distance but Ohara has taken the fight into the clinch.
Collier tries for a takedown. No joy.

Collier tightens his grip and picks Ohara up, before dumping him to the ground. Ohara manages to land in guard.
Ohara controlling Collier's posture.
Ohara is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Collier lands a couple of decent looking shots.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Collier throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Ohara is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Collier is controlling him.
Collier working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ohara is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Collier prevents Ohara from getting back to his feet.
Collier knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ohara on the ground.
Ohara is pulling down on Collier's head. It's preventing any offense from Collier, at least for the moment.
Collier throwing strikes but missing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Ohara moves into range and clinches up with Collier.
Collier jumps guard but Ohara stands there with Collier around his waist. Collier gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Ohara has picked Collier up - he's going for a ride! Ohara dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Collier makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
James Ohara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ohara clinches up against the cage.
Collier tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Hai Collier. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Ohara drags the fight down to the ground.
Ohara is trying to control the position but Collier postures up.
Collier throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ohara works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Ohara is adopting a defensive guard.
Collier throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Ohara wants to get back to his feet but Collier is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Collier got a little sloppy there for a moment and Ohara has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Collier has managed to get both his arms back between Ohara's legs - danger averted.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Collier landing some decent shots from guard.
Ohara is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Collier postures up and lands a big shot to Ohara's brow.
Ohara is trying to control the position but Collier postures up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Hai Collier will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Collier has taken the fight to the clinch.

Ohara scores with a takedown into Collier's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Collier wants to stand and escape but Ohara is having none of it.
Hai Collier overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Ohara trying to control but Collier is working from the bottom.
Collier wants to stand up but Ohara is controlling him.

Collier is looking to stand back up but Ohara counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Collier.
Ohara scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Ohara is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.
Collier will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Collier is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Ohara is controlling him.

Collier wants to stand and escape. He's got his foot on Ohara's hips, looking to push off. But Ohara grabs a hold of the leg and drops back for an ankle lock! It's hard to tell if he's got it. Both fighters look composed - OH, not anymore they don't! Collier screams like a kid who's trapped his fingers in the car door and taps out! Yikes, that must have hurt - hopefully it's not snapped anything!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Heel Hook). James Ohara!
