Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Anton Newcombe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Fellows (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Anton Newcombe!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Dean Fellows!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Newcombe shoots in and drives through. Fellows sprawls well.
Newcombe definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Fellows avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Fellows doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Newcombe loads up on a big right hand but Fellows slips the punch.
Newcombe misses with the combination.
Fellows keeps Newcombe at a distance using the push kick.
Newcombe looks for a takedown but Fellows sprawls well.
Fellows feints a counter leg kick.
Newcombe sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Newcombe closes the distance and clinches up with Fellows, looking for a takedown. Newcombe pushes Fellows against the cage but Fellows circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anton Newcombe. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Newcombe throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Newcombe is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Fellows.

Fellows tries to clinch up but Newcombe circles away and keeps his distance.

Newcombe changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Fellows looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Fellows really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Newcombe. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Newcombe tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Newcombe has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Fellows looking to hit a scissor sweep but Newcombe is one step ahead there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Fellows wants to stand and escape but Newcombe is having none of it.
Newcombe advances position into side control!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Newcombe wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fellows keeps working.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Anton Newcombe will probably get the nod.

Fellows wants to sweep but no luck.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Newcombe crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Fellows - the referee stops the clock and Newcombe gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Fellows. Newcombe manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Anton Newcombe overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Fellows felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

After the fight, Anton Newcombe was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
