Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Niko Alzate (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mark Turnbull (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alzate misses with a hook to the body
and Turnbull counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Turnbull takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Turnbull clobbers Alzate with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Alzate throws a sloppy head kick and Turnbull moves out of range easily.
Alzate lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
No luck for Alzate with that takedown attempt.
A countering left hand to the body from Turnbull misses.
Turnbull throws a body kick that misses.
A decent looking cross lands there for Alzate.

It looks like Mark Turnbull has been cut.
Alzate looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Alzate rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Turnbull counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Turnbull scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

and Turnbull counters with a right hand to the body.
Turnbull connects with a body shot.
Alzate is breathing heavily.
Alzate buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Turnbull throws a front kick that sends Alzate stumbling back into the cage.
Turnbull misses with a kick to the body.
It looked like Alzate was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Alzate has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Alzate there as he acknowledges the shot.

Turnbull throws out a counter right but Alzate avoids it with no problem.
Turnbull tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Alzate was well out of range. Poor timing from Turnbull.

Alzate tries to land a front kick but Turnbull steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Alzate has been working on his balance at Masaru Fighting Systems II, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Turnbull.
Turnbull swings for the body but Alzate moves out of range.
Turnbull digs a good hook to Alzate's body.
Good leg kick by Turnbull there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Turnbull has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Some bone on bone action there as Alzate checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Turnbull uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Alzate.
Alzate swings for the body but Turnbull moves out of range.

Alzate doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Turnbull dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Turnbull sizes up Alzate with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

and Turnbull counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Turnbull drops Alzate onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Alzate is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Turnbull pushes Alzate against the cage. Turnbull is working some dirty boxing. Turnbull pushes off with a quick right hook! Alzate goes down! Alzate tries to stand but stumbles back to his kness! Turnbull moves in to finish and the ref steps in to prevent any more damage!
