El Angel comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Descending Angel kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Pete Marquez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jose El Angel!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Matheus Silva and Thiago Cunha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

El Angel fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Marquez sprawls well initially but El Angel persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
El Angel throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
El Angel has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
El Angel seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Marquez does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

El Angel gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
El Angel throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Marquez.
Jose El Angel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

It looks like Pete Marquez has been cut.
El Angel throws a series of punches but Marquez avoids them all with ease.
As El Angel tries to get set, Marquez tries to push him back and clinch up but El Angel manages to avoid the attempt.
El Angel works Marquez's body with a nice hook.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Marquez enables El Angel to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Marquez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Marquez could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
El Angel loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Marquez is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Marquez tries to land a sweep but no joy.
El Angel controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

El Angel stands up from guard. Let's bang!
El Angel scores with a spinning back kick!
Marquez is breathing heavily.

El Angel lands a left and a right that sends Marquez crashing to the canvas! El Angel dives into mount looking to finish!


Marquez is rocked!
El Angel postures up and lands a whopping elbow - oh that's hurt Marquez bigstyle! Two more strikes land for El Angel and the fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jose El Angel!
Jose El Angel took some time post fight to say the following; 'It was a long hard road but now i am here and there is no turning back. I am here to stay and leave my mark as one of the best of all time. Watch out, the trumpets sound for El Angel!'.
