The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Legend has managed to clinch.

Legend breaks from the clinch.
Cote takes one to the chin there.

It looks like Herbert Cote has been cut.

Legend feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Cote has an active guard here but Legend has managed to pass into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
It looks like Legend might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Legend is looking to stand up but he'll have to free his leg first. Instead, Cote manages to get to full guard.
Cote knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Legend on the ground.
Legend controls from within his opponent's guard.

Legend pushes down on Cote's leg and manages to get into half guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Cote is trying to control but can't.

Cote wants to get back to full guard.

Legend keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Legend shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Cote is trying to escape back to his feet but Legend uses the scramble to pass into side control.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Legend is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Cote knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Cote is trying to control Legend's posture but Legend avoids it.

Legend wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Cote, who protects the arm well.

Legend has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Legend pushes Cote up against the cage in a clinch.
Legend tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Cote working hard to break the clinch.
Cote pressing his opponent against the cage.
Legend fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Cote is fighting off a takedown attempt but Legend is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Cote to the mat. Cote regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.
Legend slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Legend has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Cote!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
