Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between JoJo Monsoon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jed Morris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, JoJo Monsoon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jed Morris!
The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, David Schapiro and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Morris tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Monsoon was well out of range. Poor timing from Morris.
Monsoon throws a hook but Morris blocks it.
Monsoon jabs Morris right on the nose. Morris blinks but takes it well.


It looks like Jed Morris has been cut.
Morris lands with a nice body punch.
Monsoon throws a series of punches but Morris moves out of range.
Despite the aggression on Morris's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Morris takes a swing at Monsoon's ribcage but misses.
Monsoon misses with a hook.
A telegraphed right hand from Morris misses the target.

Morris closes the distance and pushes Monsoon back into the cage.
Morris tries a body shot but Monsoon blocks it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Monsoon tries to stall but Morris uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Morris's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
The crowd are getting on Morris's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
Monsoon blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Morris dictating the pace here, as the fighters clinch against the cage.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Morris manages to break the clinch.
Monsoon throws a hook to the side of Morris's head but Morris sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Monsoon takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Monsoon looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Morris tries to close the distance and clinch but Monsoon swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Monsoon throws a looping overhand right but Morris ducks down to avoid it.
Morris throws a jab but it's blocked by Monsoon.

Morris moves into the clinch.
Morris stalling.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Morris goes for a takedown attempt but Monsoon pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Monsoon swings and misses with a shot to the body

and Morris counters by clinching up.

Morris lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Morris is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Monsoon gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

JoJo Monsoon has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jed Morris.
Morris goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Morris trying to control the position but instead, Monsoon has worked for underhooks and has pushed Morris into the cage.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Morris drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Morris has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Monsoon is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Morris breaks from the clinch.
Morris ducks under a wild hook from Monsoon.
Morris throws a series of punches but Monsoon avoids them all with ease.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Monsoon cracks Morris with a good jab.
Monsoon takes a swing at Morris's ribcage but misses.
Morris tries to close the distance and clinch up but Monsoon swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Monsoon keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jed Morris will probably get the nod.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Monsoon misses with a hook. Morris ducked under it nicely.
Morris slips under a jab.
Morris doesn't manage to clinch there - Monsoon circles away.
Monsoon avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Monsoon was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.
Morris scores with a nice head shot.
JoJo Monsoon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Monsoon looks to land a right hand but Morris moved out of range.
Morris swings away with a body shot that misses

and Monsoon counters with a right hand that sends Morris tumbling to the canvas! Can Monsoon finish him? He dives into Morris's guard looking to do just that!


Morris is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Monsoon won't allow Morris to sweep him here.

Monsoon controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Morris seems to have recovered his senses.
Morris lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Monsoon might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Morris lands a couple of decent looking shots.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Monsoon is pulling down on Morris's head to control his posture.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Monsoon keeping moving, preventing Morris from controlling successfully.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
JoJo Monsoon is winning the standup battle so far.
Morris takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Monsoon throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Monsoon throws a nice looking combination but Morris bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Morris is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
The fighters circle momentarily. Monsoon darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.


That has opened up Jed Morris's cut even more.
Morris tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Monsoon manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
A big left from Morris misses.
Monsoon swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Morris scores with a jab.

Monsoon works Morris's body with a nice hook.

Monsoon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Morris circles away quickly and effectively.
Morris appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Morris throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Monsoon throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Monsoon is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Morris can do to turn this around?
Morris steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Monsoon.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Morris! But no joy.
Morris uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Monsoon.
Monsoon feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Morriss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Monsoon misses with a jab, cross combination.

Morris moves into range and clinches up with Monsoon.
The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Morris takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Morris is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Monsoon cracks Morris with an uppercut from hell and Morris crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Monsoon's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

JoJo Monsoon dominated that second round.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Monsoon dances in with a quick combination. Morris is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Monsoon snaps Morris's head back. Morris stumbles backwards against the cage. Monsoon steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Morris's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Morris just didn't come prepared.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). JoJo Monsoon!
