PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sergio Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy Ravage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Sergio Kim has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Sergio Kim seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Sergio Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Randy Ravage!
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Alec Ball and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ravage shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Kim sprawls well. Kim wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Ravage gets slowly back to his feet.
Ravage misses with a head kick.
Kim avoids the head kick by Ravage.
Kim tried to counter with a leg kick but Ravage avoided it.
Kim tries to close the distance and clinch but Ravage swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ravage shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kim as he avoids it easily.
Ravage stuffs the takedown attempt from Kim. Kim gets slowly back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Ravage shoots in looking for a takedown. Kim tries to sprawl out of it but Ravage keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kim manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Ravage looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kim is fending him off so far but Ravage persists. Nope, Kim circles away and we're back to standing.
Randy Ravage seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Ravage shoots for a takedown but Kim saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ravage lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Kim circles away quickly and effectively.

Kim ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Ravage moves away.

Ravage throws a right hand that Kim ducks under and follows up with a left that Kim also avoids with ease.

Ravage shoots in but no luck this time.
Kim appears to be looking for a big counter.

Ravage swats away the attempt to clinch by Kim.
Ravage throws a big counter head kick but Kim avoids it with no problem.

Ravage forces Kim back against the cage and clinches.

Ravage is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Ravage pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Kim moves out of range as Ravage throws a body kick.
As Ravage looks to move away, Kim throws a big counter combo but Ravage just gets out of the way.
Kim slaps away a takedown attempt from Ravage, before circling back to the center of the mat.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ravage.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Ravage throws a quick inside leg kick.

Kim rushes Ravage and presses him up against the cage.
Kim really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Kim drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Ravage gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Ravage jumps into guard, dragging Kim to the mat.
Ravage keeping moving, preventing Kim from controlling successfully.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ravage has an active guard here but Kim has managed to pass into half guard.

A close round but Randy Ravage will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Ravage closes the distance and clinches up with Kim, looking for a takedown. Ravage pushes Kim against the cage but Kim circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Ravage throws a right hand that Kim ducks under and follows up with a left that Kim also avoids with ease.
Ravage misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ravage shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kim pinned against the cage. Kim gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Kim seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

Sergio Kim has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Randy Ravage.
Ravage will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
A quick step to the side and Kim tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Ravage is breathing heavily.

Ravage is trying to break the clinch but Kim is controlling him.

Ravage lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Kim is trying to control but can't.
Kim is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Ravage's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Ravage's back!
Kim is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Kim keeps control of the position as Ravage tries to break free.

Kim seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ravage for as long as he can get away with.

Kim has the hooks in. Ravage is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kim is not going to allow Ravage to sit and survive in this position.
Ravage is trying to get back to his feet but Kim has full control of the position and if anything, Ravage has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ravage tries to roll but Kim sticks to his back.
Ravage keeps trying to improve his position.
Kim trying to secure his dominant position for a moment - making sure Ravage doesn't escape.
Sergio Kim overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
A lull in the action here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Ravage has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Kim uses from the top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kim wants to stand but Ravage is controlling his posture from full guard.
Kim wants to stand and escape but instead Ravage has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Randy Ravage comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ravage has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
