Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Smokey Simpson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kato Masaishii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Simpson comes into the arena with Blaze all day by- KOTTONMOUTH KINGS blaring out of the sound system. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Wesley Smith and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

It looks like Kato Masaishii has been cut.
Masaishii closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Simpson did well to prevent Masaishii getting side control.
Simpson makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Masaishii tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Simpson controls Masaishii momentarily but Masaishii frees himself.
My spies in The Iron Palace inform me that Masaishii has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Masaishii wants to reverse the position here. Simpson has hold of a leg though and he's dropped back looking for a kneebar! The fighters roll across the mat but Masaishii is forced to tap! Masaishii looks devastated but at least his leg points in the right direction.
