Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Danial Griffin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Miguel Augusto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Danial Griffin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Miguel Augusto!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Paulo Santos and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Griffin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Augusto walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Griffin checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Augusto tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Griffin was well out of range. Poor timing from Augusto.

Augusto shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Augusto was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Augusto tries for a kimura but Griffin is defending well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Augusto misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Griffin takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Augusto wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Griffin, who protects the arm well.
Griffin pushes Augusto away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Augusto gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Augusto decides to stand back up. Augusto steps back and let's Griffin get back to his feet.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Augusto.
Griffin throws a quick counter kick to the body but Augusto avoids it.

Augusto has taken the fight to the clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Griffin as Augusto tries to tie him up.
Augusto is looking to take this one to the mat.
Danial Griffin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Miguel Augusto.

Griffin pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Augusto tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Griffin manages to break the clinch.
Griffin dives in for a single leg takedown but Augusto sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Augusto gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Griffin prevents Augusto from breaking the clinch.

Griffin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Griffin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Augusto tries to avoid it but Griffin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Augusto to the ground. Augusto escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Augusto shoots for a double leg takedown but Griffin sprawls well. He's pushed Augusto's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
It looked like Griffin was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Griffin shoots in and drives through. Augusto sprawls well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Miguel Augusto dominated that round.
That's time! Griffin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Griffin tries to keep at a distance but Augusto has taken the fight into the clinch.

It looks like Miguel Augusto has been cut.
Augusto is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Griffin is defending well.

Griffin tightens his grip and picks Augusto up, before dumping him to the ground. Augusto manages to land in guard.

Augusto has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Griffin off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Augusto rushes Griffin and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Augusto throws a body shot but no joy.
Griffin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Augusto sprawls well. Augusto wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Griffin gets slowly back to his feet.

Augusto throws a nice looking combination but Griffin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Augusto moves into the clinch.
Augusto wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Griffin has him pressed against the cage.
Augusto is breathing heavily.

Griffin manages to pull guard.

Augusto postures up.

Griffin has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Augusto can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Augusto stays in close to Griffin's body and controls the position.
Augusto wants to pass the guard but Griffin is keeping the position.
Griffin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Augusto throws a big right hand that misses.

Griffin is working an open guard so Augusto takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Augusto stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Augusto wants it to stay on the feet.

Augusto shoots in and bounces Griffin off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Griffin wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Augusto manages to pass to side control.

Augusto has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Griffin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Augusto is working away from the top position though.

Augusto changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Griffin looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Griffin is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Augusto is controlling him well.

Augusto shoots in looking for a takedown but Griffin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Augusto's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Miguel Augusto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

As Augusto looks to move away, Griffin throws a big counter combo but Augusto just gets out of the way.

Griffin stops Augusto from getting back to his feet.

Griffin is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Griffin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Augusto on the ground.

Griffin is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Augusto has managed to free his arm - good work.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Augusto is pressing down on Griffin's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Griffin is sitting in close to Augusto's body. Augusto has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Griffin is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Griffin is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Augusto.
