PBP Commentary

Nasma has chosen AWT - We Are One as his entrance music. Samuel Nasma will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Andrew Ellis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Samuel Nasma!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nasma misses the shot to the body.

Ellis closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Nasma did well to prevent Ellis getting side control.
Ellis drops an elbow to the side of Nasma's head.
Ellis wants to free his trapped foot but Nasma is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Ellis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nasma tries to get to full guard but Ellis has control of the leg.
Ellis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Nasma's head.
Ellis thows a huge punch but Nasma dodges it nicely.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ellis looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nasma with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Ellis has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Ellis is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Nasma is in all sorts of trouble here.
Ellis lands a heavy elbow.
Nasma felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Nasma takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Nasma defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Ellis.
Nasma is in a horrible position here. Ellis smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Nasma is still in real trouble! Can Ellis finish him?
Ellis looking to finish here with some ground and pound. He lands one big shot that has Nasma covering up... and two more big strikes land, forcing the referee to step in and put and end to proceedings! This fight is all over!
