Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ryuu Masaru (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Francois Permitis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Francois Permitis is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Permitis shoots in for a double leg but Masaru sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Masaru misses with a few strikes there.
Permitis with the counter takedown but Masaru avoids it easily.
Masaru scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Masaru shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Permitis is trying to defend but Masaru finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Permitis has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Masaru can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Masaru fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Permitis manages to avoid it.

Masaru fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Permitis has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.

Masaru fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Permitis to the ground. Masaru is now in Permitis's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A little jabbing left from Permitis on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Masaru throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Permitis keeps the fight on the outside.
Masaru lunges at Permitis with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Permitis's hand.

Masaru shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Permitis manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Permitis looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Masaru puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Masaru content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Permitis has locked up a guillotine! Permitis's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Masaru is holding on here and Permitis must be using up a lot of energy. Masaru has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Permitis gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
