PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bastyn Dall (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and El Matador (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dall's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Beast. El Matador acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bastyn Dall!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, El Matador!
The judges for this bout are Joseph Jones, Chad Campbell and Jorge Garcia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dall rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Matador moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Matador closes the distance and clinches up with Dall, looking for a takedown. Matador pushes Dall against the cage but Dall circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Matador has a takedown stuffed.
Dall swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Matador.
Dall lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Dall looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Dall scores with a nice strike.
Matador tries to clinch
and Dall counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Matador takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Matador scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Matador swings around for an armbar but Dall sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Matador's guard.
Matador wants to stand up but Dall is controlling him.

Dall tries to free his leg and advance position but Matador is retaining full guard.
Matador is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Dall is controlling him.
Dall is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Dall trying to control the position from guard on top but Matador is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Matador wriggles free and stands up.
Bastyn Dall is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Matador takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Dall scores with a jab to the head.
Dall bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.

Matador with a lazy takedown attempt
and Dall counters with a stiff right hand.
Bastyn Dall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of El Matador.
Dall lands a head kick!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Matador fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Dall avoids it really well and circles away.
A slapping body kick lands there for Dall.

Matador fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Dall sprawls well initially but Matador persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Matador is looking for a kimura but Dall is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Matador to get the leverage.
Dall is looking to improve his position.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Matador scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

Matador seems to be working for a kimura but Dall defends the submission attempt.

Dall is defending against the submission attempts here by Matador.
Matador throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Matador is actively looking for submissions here but good counter grappling here from Dall as he works his way to full guard.
Matador working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Matador drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Dall manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Matador has Dall in his guard.

Matador wants to stand but Dall is controlling the position.
Dall wants to pass the guard but Matador is keeping the position.
Matador is looking to stand up but Dall isn't so interested in that idea.
Dall stands and throws Matador's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Matador wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bastyn Dall dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


Dall feints and then cracks Matador's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Matador down.
Dall connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Bastyn Dall is winning the standup battle so far.
Matador shoots and misses
and Matador takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Dall is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Matador can do to turn this around?
Dall lands a nice hook to Matador's body. Matador takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Matador on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Matador takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Dall lands a jab to Matador's midsection.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Matador darts in looking for a takedown but Dall gets double underhooks and turns Matador into the cage.
Matador fails with the takedown.
Matador's coach down at WildBoar's Pig Pen (Strength and Conditioning) $40 was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Matador's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Bastyn Dall has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of El Matador.
Dall throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Bastyn Dall seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dall fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Dall scores with a leg kick.
Matador sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Dall clobbers Matador with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Dall tries a head kick but it misses.
Dall lunges at Matador with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Matador's hand.
Matador throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Dall's waist but Dall gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Matador off to one side.
It looked like Dall was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Dall connects with a single shot there.
Dall keeps Matador at a distance using the push kick.

Matador drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Matador is working Dall over with some ground and pound from side control.

Matador tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Matador throws a strike aimed at the side of Dall's head but Dall avoids it well.
Matador misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Dall is looking to reverse the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Matador has an Americana. Dall didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Matador is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Matador hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). El Matador!
Our winner, El Matador, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
