PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Young One (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jeremy Renner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Renner has chosen God Particle as his entrance music. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Young One!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 24 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jeremy Renner!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Wagner Zegers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
One tries to bum rush Renner with a series of wild strikes but Renner uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
One misses the jab.
Renner appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body.
Renner takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Renner takes a shot right to the bread basket.
Renner shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as One sprawls well. One wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Renner gets slowly back to his feet.
One swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
One dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
One swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Renner closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
One throws a sloppy body shot
and Renner counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Young One is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

One misses with a straight left.
A left lands for One.
One slips under a jab from Renner.
As Renner looks to move away, One throws a big counter combo but Renner just gets out of the way.
One scores with a hook.
One keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
One lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Renner at a distance.
One throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Renner sees it coming and avoids it easily.
One thows a left - swing and a miss!

One gets caught napping as Renner dives in and scores a takedown. One manages to retain guard.
One is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Renner chips away with some ground and pound.
One looking for a sweep. Not yet One, not yet.
One looking to control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Renner is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
One is trying to control the position but Renner postures up.

One is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Renner defends well.
Renner engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
One looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Renner puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

One is trying to control the position but Renner postures up.
One has momentary wrist control but Renner slips an elbow through the middle.
One preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
One looking for a sweep. Not yet One, not yet.

One looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Renner wants to control from the top but One keeps moving.
One might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Renner trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
One is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
One misses with an uppercut.
Renner looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Renner is trying hard to land a takedown here. One sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Young One has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeremy Renner.

Renner moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
One checks a leg kick nicely.
Renner shoots in looking for a takedown. One tries to sprawl out of it but Renner keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. One manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


One throws a hook but Renner blocks it.
One missing with a left hand there. Renner was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
It seemed like Renner was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Young One is winning the standup battle so far.
Renner with a lazy takedown attempt
and One counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Renner connects with the punch.
Renner lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Renner.
The fighters circling - One throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Renner doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Renner bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
A nice side step and Renner releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
One dips down and scores with a jab to the body.

Renner ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
One looks to score with a jab to the body but Renner is just out of range.
One misses with a body punch
and Renner makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
One throws a looping overhand right but Renner ducks down to avoid it.

Renner staying out of range there.
Renner will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Renner shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and One counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Renner thinking.
Young One has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jeremy Renner.
Renner walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Renner shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
One knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Renner on the ground.

Renner is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

One wants to improve his position but Renner is controlling well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Renner uses his free foot to push down on One's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for One.
One is trying desperately to improve position.

One on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if One tries to get out of the position.
One wants to control but Renner is having none of it.

Jeremy Renner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Renner.

One takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
You can see the frustration on One's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

One is rocked!
Renner postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have One in real trouble here! The ref calls for One to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:30 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jeremy Renner!
After winning the bout, Jeremy Renner thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
