PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kk Brewer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chance Spong (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Brewer's entrance music is scooby doo. A fine choice. The crowd seem to be enjoying Spong's choice of entrance music: The Cure - A Forest. Chance Spong has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kk Brewer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Chance Spong!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brewer with a hook.
A nice inside leg kick there by Brewer. That's going to slow Spong down.
Spong swings for the body but Brewer moves out of range.
Brewer jinks towards his opponent looking like he wants to counter with a mid kick but doesn't commit.
Spong digs a good hook to Brewer's body.

Spong shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Brewer controlling Spong's posture.
Brewer keeping moving, preventing Spong from controlling successfully.
Brewer has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Spong pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Brewer is keeping the position for now.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Spong doesn't manage to clinch there - Brewer circles away.

Brewer walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Spong checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Spong is a very stocky fighter. Infact he's such a weird shape that he's almost like some sort of comedy character - it's hard to believe he's real.
Spong cracks the inside of Brewer's front leg.
Brewer tries to land a front kick but Spong steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brewer.

Brewer dives in and scores a takedown into Spong's guard.

Brewer tries to free his leg and advance position but Spong is retaining full guard.
Spong tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Spong bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Brewer's guard.

Brewer can't keep his opponent in guard - Spong advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Brewer is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Spong's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Spong's back!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

You can see the frustration on Spong's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Brewer scores with a nice shot to the head of his opponent. Spong is looking for a way out.
Brewer is hanging on to Spong's back as he tries to escape.

Spong tries to roll but Brewer sticks to his back.
Spong turns into Brewer and is now in his guard.
Spong is looking to advance position but Brewer has hit a scissor sweep - now he's on top in mount!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brewer tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Spong is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Spong slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

Brewer looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Brewer manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Spong on his heels. He'll look to pass Spong's guard now, I'm sure.

Brewer looks up at the clock and then as Spong takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Brewer smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Brewer connects with a body shot that sends Spong's belly button to the back.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Brewer.
Spong with the counter takedown but Brewer avoids it easily.
Brewer throws a hook to the side of Spong's head but Spong sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Spong keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

Brewer moves into range and clinches up with Spong.

Spong is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Brewer is defending well.
Spong tries to work over Brewer's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Spong uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Brewer.

Spong goes for a takedown in the clinch but Brewer prevents it.
Kk Brewer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chance Spong.
Spong has Brewer pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Brewer manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Brewer tries to land knees in the clinch but Spong avoids the damage to the body.

Spong manages to reverse the position and now he's in Brewer's guard. Nice work there by Spong.
Kk Brewer overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Brewer is taking a breather. Spong says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Brewer takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Well Brewer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
