The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Thiago Cunha and Daniel Cesar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Schmidt gets off balance looking for a body kick
so Drogo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Schmidt working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Drogo.
Drogo throwing strikes but missing.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Schmidt holds on and takes a little breather.
Schmidt is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Schmidt keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Drogo tries to get to full guard but Schmidt has control of the leg.
Schmidt thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Schmidt is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Drogo won't allow Schmidt to pass to mount.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Schmidt is looking to advance position but Drogo won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Schmidt throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
Schmidt sets himself and throws a head kick that knocks Drogo to the ground! Schmidt dives into full mount looking to finish!
Drogo is rocked!
It looks like Khal Drogo has been cut.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Schmidt stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Oh Drogo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Horrible takedown attempt by Drogo or perhaps it was just good defense by Schmidt, which made it look bad.
Schmidt shapes to counter with a head kick.
Drogo takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
Drogo is breathing heavily.
Schmidt lands a brutal uppercut that launches Drogo off his feet! Drogo tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!
