Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between L Manning Hines (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Borat Sagdiyev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, L Manning Hines!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Borat Sagdiyev!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Richard Clark and James Ackerman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hines looks to land a left hand but Sagdiyev moved out of range nicely.

Hines has Sagdiyev up against the cage in a clinch.
Sagdiyev is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hines to keep the fight standing.

Hines pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Sagdiyev has a takedown stuffed.
Sagdiyev shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Hines defends it nicely.
L Manning Hines has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Borat Sagdiyev.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hines ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Sagdiyev moves away.

and Hines counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Hines pushing down on Sagdiyev's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Hines winds up and cracks Sagdiyev with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Sagdiyev is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Hines is keen to just control but Sagdiyev is a slippery customer.

Hines has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Hines has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Sagdiyev is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
Hines breaks from Sagdiyev's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Sagdiyev tries to hold on but Hines pushes him away.
Sagdiyev is squirming around, avoiding Hines's attempts to control the action.
Sagdiyev is working to get back to half guard.

Hines postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Sagdiyev looks a forlorn figure.
Hines prevents Sagdiyev from getting the reversal.

Hines is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Sagdiyev has managed to escape the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hines goes for an armbar but Sagdiyev turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Sagdiyev.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Hines has closed the distance and engaged Sagdiyev in a clinch.

Hines tightens his grip and picks Sagdiyev up, before dumping him to the ground. Sagdiyev manages to land in guard.
Hines stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sagdiyev swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sagdiyev utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Sagdiyev trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!

Hines looking to control but Sagdiyev is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
L Manning Hines overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Sagdiyev slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Hines wants to lay and pray for a moment but Sagdiyev keeps working.
Still in half guard, Hines seems content to control.

Sagdiyev looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Hines looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Sagdiyev with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Hines slows the pace down in half guard.
Sagdiyev is in trouble now - Hines has advanced to mount!
Hines lands a couple of good shots and Sagdiyev has given up his back, trying to escape the position!

Sagdiyev defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Hines's arms.
Sagdiyev is really stuck here.

The referee is taking a good look at Sagdiyev as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Hines!
I really don't envy Sagdiyev right now.
Hines is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
Oooh a big shot gets through from Hines. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!

Sagdiyev takes a big shot to the side of the head.
Sagdiyev is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hines tries to get the hooks in deep but Sagdiyev pushed the leg off.
Sagdiyev is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Hines off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Hines is looking for the choke from the back position but Sagdiyev is controlling his hands well.
Sagdiyev wants to escape the position.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


A telegraphed right hand from Hines misses the target.
A little jabbing left from Sagdiyev on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Hines lands a right hook to the body.
Hines throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Sagdiyev fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Hines, pushing him back against the cage.
Sagdiyev tries to score a body lock takedown but Hines shows good agility there to stay on his feet.

Hines gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sagdiyev makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Sagdiyev.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hines is looking to advance position but Sagdiyev won't allow it.

A big strike lands for Hines! That's really hurt Sagdiyev and he's turned his back - Hines keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Hines jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
