Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bill Stephens (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ian Connolly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Bill Stephens!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ian Connolly!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Connolly changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Stephens looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Connolly is trying to get an arm triangle but Stephens is defending well.
You can see the frustration on Stephens's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Connolly tries to move to mount but Stephens blocks the move with his legs.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Stephens is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Stephens is looking to control Connolly's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Stephens avoid being mounted?
Stephens is controlling Connolly's trapped leg to prevent Connolly from advancing to side control.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Connolly pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Stephens changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Stephens goes for a double leg but Connolly avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Connolly continues to drive forward.

Connolly shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Connolly was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Connolly wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stephens keeps working.
Stephens really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Connolly shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Stephens manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Stephens lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Connolly closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Connolly is looking to take a break and control but Stephens is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Stephens tries to buck Connolly off but Connolly is having none of it.
Connolly just content to control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Stephens manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
It looks like Stephens is going to stand back up.

Stephens tries to stand and escape but Connolly is controlling the position.
Connolly tries to get to full guard but Stephens has control of the leg.

Stephens will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Stephens is looking to take a break and control but Connolly is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Connolly has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Stephens looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Stephens seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Connolly for as long as he can get away with.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Stephens is working for a kimura but Connolly is defending it quite comfortably.
Connolly wants to get back to his feet.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Connolly shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Stephens trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Connolly manages to pass to mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stephens wants to hold on but Connolly pushes him away.

Connolly thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Connolly is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Stephens has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Stephens!
Stephens has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Connolly is proving hard to escape from.

Stephens is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That was a close second round but I would say that Bill Stephens will probably get the nod.

Ian Connolly comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Connolly has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
