The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Garbrandt clinches with his opponent.
Franklin is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Garbrandt is defending well.
Franklin has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Garbrandt after a bit of a struggle.
Franklin goes for a takedown attempt but Garbrandt pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Franklin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Garbrandt throws a nice looking combination but Franklin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Garbrandt fails to land the takedown.
Franklin drops down looking for a counter takedown but Garbrandt sprawls and moves away.
Franklin has been working on his balance at LOD: Purpose Training Center™ , so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Garbrandt.

Garbrandt lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Franklin counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Franklin drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Franklin jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Garbrandt really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Franklin. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Franklin is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Garbrandt is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Garbrandt has escaped and now he's on top!

Garbrandt is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Franklin has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Garbrandt is looking to defend but Franklin has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Garbrandt! Franklin pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Garbrandt taps out and this one is all over!
