PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Porter Myers (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirty Hands (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Porter Myers!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dirty Hands!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Colin Fray and Chris Saunders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hands misses with a shot to the body
enabling Myers to counter with a crisp jab.

Myers gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Hands to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Hands preventing the sweep.
Myers trying to keep a closed guard but Hands is proving a slippery customer.
Hands wants to get up but he can't break Myers's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Myers wants to stand and escape but Hands is having none of it.
Myers is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Hands dives into side control.

Hands stands up and beckons Myers to his feet.

Hands closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Myers quickly recovers to half guard.
Myers is looking to improve his position.
Hands looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Myers tries to get to full guard but Hands has control of the leg.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Myers pushes Hands off looking to stand but Hands dives back in and keeps control.

Myers wants to get back to full guard.

Hands stands up and beckons Myers to join him on the feet.

Hands changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Myers looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Myers is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Hands is stalling here. Myers is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Hands seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Myers has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Myers decides to take the fight back to the feet.

Hands throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Myers tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Hands is in Myers's guard.

Myers is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Myers has his foot on Hands's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Hands works his way back into a safe position though.
Myers is breathing heavily.

Hands gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Hands closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Myers to the mat! Myers manages to get full guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Hands feints and as Myers raises his hands in defense, Hands changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Hands wants to control from the top but Myers keeps moving.

Hands is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Hands has control of an arm but Myers manages to advance to Hands's back!

Hands turns into Myers and is now in his guard.
Hands trying to control the position from guard on top but Myers is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Hands stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Myers swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Myers really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Myers is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Hands missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Myers will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Myers can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hands controls the pace.
Myers is looking to stand back up but Hands counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Myers.
Hands with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Hands frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Myers blocking the ground and pound.
Hands can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Myers is looking to escape.
Myers wants to hold on but Hands pushes him away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hands sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Myers is working to get back to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dirty Hands showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Myers bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hands's head.

Hands shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Myers has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Hands is on him like a limpet, forcing Myers back against the cage.
Myers tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hands just stands there and leans against the cage.

Hands successfully pulls guard.
Hands working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Myers.
Hands looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Myers puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Myers seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Hands does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Hands is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Myers tries to control but Hands wriggling away.

Myers looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Hands is squirming around, avoiding Myers's attempts to control the action.
Hands sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.

Hands kicks Myers off and gets back to his feet.
Hands misses with an uppercut
letting Myers counter with a right hand.
Myers tries to close the distance and clinch but Hands swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
A head kick by Hands misses
and Myers counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Hands scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Hands takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Myers regains half guard there - taking advantage of Hands's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.
Hands lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Myers has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Hands is on him like a limpet, forcing Myers back against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hands has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Myers uses from the top position.
