Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Kelle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shawn Michaels (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kurt Kelle has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Kurt Kelle!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shawn Michaels!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kelle throws a front kick aimed at Michaels's knee but Michaels avoids it well.
Kelle tests Michaels's chin there with a solid looking shot.


It looks like Shawn Michaels has been cut.
Michaels slips a jab and a cross from Kelle.

Michaels scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Michaels tries to move into full mount but can't pass Kelle's legs.
Kelle is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Michaels asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Kelle is trying to get back to half guard.
Kelle has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kelle can't do much from the bottom here.
Kelle tries to bench press Michaels off him but Michaels keeps the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kelle pushes Michaels away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Michaels gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Michaels is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kelle has escaped the position, nice work there.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Michaels stands up.
Kelle throws a right hand that Michaels ducks under and follows up with a left that Michaels also avoids with ease.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Kelle.

Michaels seems to be working for a kimura but Kelle defends the submission attempt.
Michaels is trying to control the action in half guard but Kelle is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Well, if Michaels is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Michaels is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Kelle defends it well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Kelle makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kelle.

Michaels drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Michaels jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Kelle had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Michaels defends it easily.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Michaels closes the distance and pushes Kelle back into the cage.
Michaels is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Kelle is defending well.
Kelle wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Michaels has him pressed against the cage.
Kelle tries to circle away but Michaels has him pinned against the cage.
Kelle wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Kelle looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Michaels drags the fight down to the ground.

Kelle is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Michaels is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fight stays on the outside here - Michaels looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Michaels shoots in looking for a takedown. Kelle tries to sprawl out of it but Michaels keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Kelle manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Kelle goes for a double leg but Michaels avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Michaels continues to drive forward.

That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Michaels tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kelle swivels and escapes.
Kelle is looking for a counter combo.
Kelle throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Michaels shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kelle defends it nicely.
Michaels on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Kelle. Kelle obviously looking to wear him down.
No joy there for Kelle, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Kelle throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Michaels fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Kelle, pushing him back against the cage.

Michaels breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Kelle's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Kelle duly obliges.

Kelle throws a nice looking combination but Michaels bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Michaels has closed the distance and engaged Kelle in a clinch.
Kelle tries to break the clinch but Michaels is controlling the position.
Michaels tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kelle smiles and moves away.

Kelle misses with a few strikes there.
Michaels blocks a head kick by Kelle.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Michaels keeps control of Kelle as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Michaels lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Michaels has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Kelle is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Kelle wants to break free but Michaels has control.
Kelle has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Michaels tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Kelle smiles and moves away.

Michaels rushes Kelle and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kelle wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Kelle breaks from the clinch.

Michaels dives in and scores a takedown into Kelle's guard.
Michaels wants to pass the guard but Kelle is keeping the position.

Kelle escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Michaels gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kelle is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Michaels really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Kelle. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kurt Kelle.
I think Kelle has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
