Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Scott Fields!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Robert Palya!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jorge Garcia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palya throws a body punch but Fields moves out of range.

Palya darts in and clinches Fields up against the cage.

Fields gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Palya is trying to control the position but Fields postures up.
Fields wants to control from the top but Palya keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fields has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Palya has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Fields can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Fields is stalling in the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

We've been hearing that Fields has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish.

Fields keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Palya's head.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Palya controls Fields momentarily but Fields frees himself.

Fields got a little sloppy there for a moment and Palya has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fields has managed to get both his arms back between Palya's legs - danger averted.
Fields distracts Palya with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Fields lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Palya! More strikes land and this one is all over! Fields jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
