Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Blood (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gustavo Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aaron Blood had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Aaron Blood!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gustavo Santos!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Blood gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Santos to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Blood is trying to control the position but Santos postures up.

Santos got a little sloppy there for a moment and Blood has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Santos has managed to get both his arms back between Blood's legs - danger averted.

Blood looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Santos passes into half guard.
Blood is trying to control but can't.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Santos is looking to take a break and control but Blood is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Santos wants to work for an arm triangle but Blood is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Blood wants to improve his position but Santos is controlling well.

Santos is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Blood is trying to get back to full guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Blood tries to roll over but Santos keeps him under control.
Blood is trying to maintain the position but Santos is very close to passing his half guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Blood trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Blood is in all sorts of trouble here.

Blood tries to reverse the position but Santos maintains control.
Blood is squirming around, avoiding Santos's attempts to control the action.

Santos working for a submission but Blood is keeping him at bay.
Blood bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Blood looking to sit in guard and control but Santos gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Blood is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Blood working a defensive guard but Santos passes into half guard.

Santos is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Blood trying to control but Santos postures up.
Blood might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Santos stalling.

Blood has a hand on Santos's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Santos takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Blood wants to control but Santos is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Santos manages to capitalize on a mistake by Blood to take his back!
Santos controls the action.

Santos patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Blood wants to escape the position.
Blood tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Gustavo Santos dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Santos rushes Blood and presses him up against the cage.

Santos works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Blood pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Blood scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Santos has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Blood is on him like a limpet, forcing Santos back against the cage.

Blood has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Santos uses from the top position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Santos is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Blood knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Blood throws a few strikes from the bottom but Santos takes advantage and mounts!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Santos controlling the position easily from mount.
Blood tries to lock up and control but Santos gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Blood is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Santos controlling from the full mount.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Santos can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Blood is looking to escape.
Blood is trying to escape the mount.
Blood is trying to reverse the position but instead Santos has taken his back - oops!
Santos controlling well, preventing Blood from escaping the position.
Santos avoiding Blood 's attempts to control his hands.
Santos has the hooks in. Blood is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Santos is not going to allow Blood to sit and survive in this position.
Blood is defending well here and trying to improve his position.

Santos has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Blood! Can he survive? No! He's out! Santos gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Gustavo Santos!
