Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Larsson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiromichi Matsumoto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hiromichi Matsumoto will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hiromichi Matsumoto!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Franklyn Lucas and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matsumoto throws a head kick that misses.

Larsson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Larsson tries to free his leg and advance position but Matsumoto is retaining full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Matsumoto holds on and takes a little breather.

Matsumoto has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Larsson has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

We've been hearing reports that Larsson has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Matsumoto throws a series of punches but Larsson moves out of range.

Larsson shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Matsumoto as he avoids it easily.
Larsson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Matsumoto tries to avoid it but Larsson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Matsumoto to the ground. Matsumoto escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Matsumoto steps in looking to clinch after the strikes miss from Larsson.

Larsson has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Matsumoto avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Matsumoto escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Matsumoto gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Larsson to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Larsson drops back, looking for a kneebar! Matsumoto looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Matsumoto looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Matsumoto!

This has been an exciting period of action!

Matsumoto has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Larsson fails with a takedown attempt.

Matsumoto gets caught napping as Larsson dives in and scores a takedown. Matsumoto manages to retain guard.

Matsumoto wants to sweep here but Larsson controlling him for the moment.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Matsumoto is looking to slow Larsson down with leg kicks.

and Larsson counters with a nice double leg into guard.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Matsumoto manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.
Larsson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Larsson goes for a takedown in the clinch but Matsumoto prevents it.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Larsson shoots in for a takedown but Matsumoto shows good takedown defense.
Larsson goes for a double leg but Matsumoto avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Matsumoto continues to drive forward.
Jack Larsson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Larsson on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Matsumoto. Matsumoto obviously looking to wear him down.
Matsumoto connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Larsson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Matsumoto circles away.

Matsumoto manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Larsson manages to get himself to full guard.

In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Matsumoto working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.

Matsumoto got a little sloppy there for a moment and Larsson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Matsumoto has managed to get both his arms back between Larsson's legs - danger averted.

Larsson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Matsumoto is aware though and is defending well.

Larsson is looking for a triangle here but Matsumoto uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Matsumoto decides to stand back up. Matsumoto steps back and let's Larsson get back to his feet.

Jack Larsson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Matsumoto pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Hiromichi Matsumoto seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Matsumoto throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Larsson.
Matsumoto feints with a jab and clips Larsson right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Larsson is sent crashing into the canvas and Matsumoto leaps in for the kill! Larsson tries to get to his feet but Matsumoto is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Larsson is in need of a savior and steps in!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Hiromichi Matsumoto!
Hiromichi Matsumoto really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Sun-Tzu logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
