Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Carson Mathews (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Doe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). John Doe will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Doe!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Gwen Towbar and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mathews fails with a takedown attempt.
Doe is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Doe keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Doe shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mathews as he jumps to the side.

Doe rushes Mathews and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Doe throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.

Doe jumps guard but Mathews stands there with Doe around his waist. Doe gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Doe wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Mathews has him pressed against the cage.
Doe is trying to push Mathews away but Mathews has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Mathews jumps into guard, dragging Doe to the mat.

Mathews has his foot on Doe's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Doe works his way back into a safe position though.
Mathews is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Mathews wants to stand and escape but Doe is having none of it.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Doe prevents Mathews from getting back to his feet.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Doe shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Mathews but Mathews pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Mathews pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Mathews could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Doe closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Mathews fails to pull guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Doe changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Mathews fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Mathews throws a left and a right that both miss
and Doe counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Carson Mathews will probably get the nod.

Mathews shoots in looking for a takedown. Doe tries to sprawl out of it but Mathews keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Doe manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Doe keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Carson Mathews is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Doe goes for a double leg but Mathews avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Mathews continues to drive forward.

and Doe counters with a straight right hand.

Doe got a little sloppy there for a moment and Mathews has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Doe has managed to get both his arms back between Mathews's legs - danger averted.

Mathews has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Doe uses from the top position.
