PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rauli Raunio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dmitry Boitsoff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Raunio comes to the cage accompanied by Die for Metal. Boitsoff is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by My Domination. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Rauli Raunio!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Dmitry Boitsoff!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, James Ackerman and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Raunio misses with a low kick.
Boitsoff is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Raunio tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Boitsoff fails to land the takedown.
Raunio moves out of range of the strikes.

Boitsoff shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Boitsoff was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Raunio tries to bench press Boitsoff off him but Boitsoff keeps the position.
Boitsoff trying to control the position but Raunio is working away.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Raunio parries the strikes from Boitsoff easily there. Boitsoff is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Raunio to escape.

Raunio is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Boitsoff's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Boitsoff perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Boitsoff is nestled in close to Raunio, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Boitsoff remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Raunio gets back to half guard.
Boitsoff looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Raunio with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Boitsoff seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Raunio does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Raunio will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Raunio seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
