The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rizk has a takedown stuffed.
Yoosuf Rizk seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rizk moves away from the strike by Lloyd.
Lloyd throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rizk's waist but Rizk gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Lloyd off to one side.
Rizk throws a sloppy head kick and Lloyd moves out of range easily.
Lloyd shoots in but no luck this time.
It seemed like Rizk was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Lloyd shoots for a double leg takedown but Rizk sprawls well. He's pushed Lloyd's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Virgil Lloyd. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rizk has closed the distance and engaged Lloyd in a clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lloyd gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Rizk regains guard.

Rizk is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Lloyd presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Rizk working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Lloyd doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Rizk is tightening it up a little... Lloyd has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Lloyd reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Lloyd taps out! Nice BJJ there by Rizk!
