PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jack Soto (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kwon Won Won (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Soto is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Kwon Won Won will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jack Soto!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kwon Won Won!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Ivan Kurochkin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Won Won shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Soto as he jumps to the side.
Soto is breathing heavily.

Won Won has closed the distance and engaged Soto in a clinch.

Won Won manages to break the clinch.
Kwon Won Won seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Won Won closes the distance and clinches up with Soto, looking for a takedown. Won Won pushes Soto against the cage but Soto circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Soto wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Won Won shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Soto pinned against the cage. Soto gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Jack Soto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kwon Won Won.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Soto.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Won Won fails with the takedown.
An attempted straight right counter from Soto misses the target.
Won Won fails with a takedown attempt.

Won Won moves into the clinch.
A right handed body shot lands from Won Won.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Won Won keeps control of Soto as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Won Won stalling.
Won Won stalling in the clinch.

Won Won jumps into guard, dragging Soto to the mat.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Won Won is on top in guard.

Won Won controlling from the top position.
Won Won advances position into side control!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Won Won working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.

Won Won decides to stand back up.
Won Won throws a shot to the body.
Won Won dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Won Won lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.


It looks like Jack Soto has been cut.
Won Won changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Soto tries to avoid it but Won Won manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Soto to the ground. Soto escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Soto leaves Won Won with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Soto stuffs the takedown attempt from Won Won. Won Won gets slowly back to his feet.
Soto is looking to counter the offense by Won Won and move into the clinch.

Won Won gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Won Won lands a takedown into guard.
Won Won pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Soto is keeping the position for now.

Won Won stands and steps away. Soto gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Won Won thows a body kick. Soto tries to catch it but that hurt him.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kwon Won Won dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Jack Soto's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Won Won moves into the clinch successfully.
Won Won goes for a takedown attempt but Soto pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Won Won has managed to clinch.

Won Won breaks the clinch.
Won Won connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Soto tumbling to the canvas! Won Won pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Soto was done - good stoppage!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:44 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Kwon Won Won!
