PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Leopold Stotch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Finkle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stotch's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, boom baby. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 28 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Leopold Stotch!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 16 - 2, fighting out of New York, Ray Finkle!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stotch dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Stotch lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Stotch motions for Finkle to come forward. Stotch throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Stotch.
Finkle pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Finkle takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Finkle moves out of range of the strikes.
Finkle with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Stotch to score with a decent uppercut.
Finkle checks a low kick from Stotch.
Finkle follows through with a counter body kick but it doesn't land.
Stotch has been working on his boxing with his coaches at LOD: Lightning Kicks (MaxID260K) in the buildup to the fight.
Finkle drops his hands momentarily and Stotch takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Stotch throws a head kick but Finkle moves out of range.
A little jabbing left from Finkle on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Stotch swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Stotch moves out of range of the strikes.
Stotch lands with a hook. Finkle tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Finkle has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Stotch shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.


It looks like Leopold Stotch has been cut.
A decent looking cross lands there for Finkle.

Finkle throws a head kick but Stotch moves out of range.

Finkle is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Oh Stotch is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Finkle's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Finkle stands and throws Stotch's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Stotch seems to have got his legs back now.

Stotch is not content to let Finkle control the position.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

Stotch is looking to regain half guard here but Finkle keeps moving and retains side control.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Finkle has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Stotch with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Finkle walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Stotch checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Finkle throws a right and a left that Stotch avoids nicely.
Stotch tries to score with a low kick but Finkle moves his leg out of the way.
Stotch scores with a crisp jab that stopped Finkle in his tracks.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Finkle fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Finkle takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Stotch finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Finkle lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Stotch throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Finkle on the side of the head.
Stotch connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Stotch feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Finkle's calf.
That kick from Stotch tenderised Finkle's leg. Finkle is trying to keep his angry face on.
Stotch connects with a leg kick. Finkle looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.
Good leg kick by Finkle there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Finkle throws a nice looking combination but Stotch bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

A head kick lands from Finkle that sends Stotch to the canvas. Stotch tries to scramble back to his feet but Finkle brings him back down into side control.
Stotch is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Finkle off and has taken his back!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
I really don't envy Finkle right now.
Finkle keeps trying to improve his position.
Finkle just trying to survive but Stotch is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Stotch is trying to stick to Finkle's back but Finkle is turning into Stotch. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Stotch's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Finkle.

That was a close second round but I would say that Leopold Stotch will probably get the nod.

Stotch throws a looping overhand right but Finkle ducks down to avoid it.
Stotch throws out a loose jab but Finkle uses good head movement to avoid it.
A countering left hand to the body from Finkle misses.
Stotch cracks the inside of Finkle's front leg.
Finkle looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it.
Stotch was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Stotch throws a solid leg kick but Finkle takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Stotch.
Finkle scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Finkle, right into the meat.
Stotch does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Finkle lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Stotch dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Finkle. That did some damage!
Jab, jab by Finkle - just one landing.
Finkle loads up on a big right hand but Stotch slips the punch.
Finkle has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Stotch finds it's way round the side to connect with Finkle's head.
A combination from Finkle does no damage.
Stotch misses with a hook.
A countering left hand to the body from Finkle misses.
Finkle takes a swing at Stotch's ribcage but misses.
Finkle's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Stotch throws a front kick aimed at Finkle's knee but Finkle avoids it well.

A low kick from Finkle is predictable there
and Stotch counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
