Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Johan Machado!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Josh Howell!
The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Ron Honeybunn and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machado misses with a takedown attempt
and Howell counters with a straight right hand.
Machado will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Machado tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Howell swivels and escapes.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johan Machado. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Machado takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Machado shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Machado shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Howell defends it nicely.
Machado shoots in for a takedown but Howell shows good takedown defense.
Howell stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Howell wants it to stay on the feet.
Howell thuds his right hand into Machado's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.


It looks like Johan Machado has been cut.
Howell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Machado is breathing heavily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Machado fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Howell digs a good body shot into Machado's ribs.
Machado gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Howell.
Howell is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Machado dives in for a single leg takedown but Howell sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Machado ducks right into an uppercut from Howell.
Machado is trying hard to land a takedown here. Howell sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Johan Machado seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Howell connects with a right hand. Machado shakes it off.
Machado shoots in but Howell avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Howell throws out a counter right but Machado avoids it with no problem.
Josh Howell is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Howell lands an overhand right.
Howell lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Howell with a nice cross.
Machado with a poor takedown
letting Howell counter with a right hand.
Machado gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Howell counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
The crowd cheers as Howell lands an impressive looking overhand right. Machado doesn't seem phased though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
No luck for Machado with that takedown attempt.

Oooooh!!! Howell has knocked Machado down with a huge combo! Howell steps away and waves a wobbly Machado back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!


Machado is rocked!
Machado gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Howell gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Machado is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Josh Howell!
During a confident post fight interview, Josh Howell thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
