PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Augustus Belmont (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christian Evansen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Christian Evansen was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Augustus Belmont!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Christian Evansen!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Yukihiro Shimada and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Evansen lands with a thumping leg kick.
Belmont smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Belmont throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Evansen sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Evansen throws a nice inside leg kick.
Evansen throws a right hand that misses
and Belmont counters with a left and a right that stings Evansen.
A nice leg kick lands there from Belmont.
Evansen's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Belmont connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Evansen scrambles back to his feet.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Evansen has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Belmont defending well as Evansen loads up on a big left hand.
Belmont jabs Evansen to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Evansen takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Belmont really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Evansen takes a nasty kick to the mid section... That should keep him thinking. Does he try and block and risk a head kick landing?
A solid leg kick lands there for Belmont.
Belmont has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Evansen.
Evansen lands a head kick!
Belmont throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Evansen fails with the takedown.
Belmont swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Evansen misses with a head kick.
Belmont throws a leg kick
and Evansen counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Belmont throws a body punch but Evansen moves out of range.
Belmont scores with a nice head shot.
Augustus Belmont is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Belmont missing with a left hand there. Evansen was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Belmont backing away here, and Evansen unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Belmont is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Evansen lands a right hook to the body.
Belmont looks to throw the jab but Evansen is out of range.
Evansen throws out a counter right but Belmont avoids it with no problem.
Evansen throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Belmont counters with a good, hard body kick but Evansen shrugs it off.
Evansen drops his hands momentarily and Belmont takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
A jab from Evansen misses.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Evansen lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Belmont has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Belmont and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.
Belmont misses with a body shot.
Evansen looks to score with a jab to the body but Belmont is just out of range.
Belmont connects with an inside leg kick.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Belmont swings for the body but Evansen moves out of range.
Belmont pulls out of a head kick attempt.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Belmont fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Evansen has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Belmont throws out a loose jab but Evansen uses good head movement to avoid it.
Evansen tries to clinch but Belmont is having none of it.
Belmont throws a leg kick but Evansen sees it coming and moves out of range.
Belmont digs a good body shot into Evansen's ribs.
Evansen slips a jab and a cross from Belmont.

Evansen shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Evansen showed some decent athleticism there.
Belmont tries to kick Evansen off in order to stand up. Evansen Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
You can see the frustration on Belmont's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Belmont tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Evansen wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The referee asks Evansen politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Evansen prefers to stall for the moment though.
Evansen creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Belmont sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Evansen is looking to take a break and control but Belmont is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Belmont stops Evansen from passing to mount.

Evansen is working to tighten his grip on Belmont's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Belmont has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Evansen is really squeezing tight and eventually Belmont passes out! Evansen breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Christian Evansen!
Christian Evansen decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
