PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Silver (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akira Hayabusa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hayabusa comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Paris kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Akira Hayabusa has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Nathan Silver's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 17 - 1, fighting out of London, Nathan Silver!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 11 - 0, fighting out of London, Akira Hayabusa!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Nard Betker and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silver misses with a body punch

and Hayabusa counters by clinching up.

Silver pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Silver throws a shot to the body.
Silver tries a head kick but it misses.
Silver takes a swing at Hayabusa's ribcage but misses.
Silver throws a body shot but no joy.
Hayabusa changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.
Hayabusa blocks the body kick.
Hayabusa has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
No joy there for Silver, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hayabusa tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.
Nathan Silver seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Silver throws a body punch but Hayabusa moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Silver misses with a body shot.
Silver swings for the body but Hayabusa moves out of range.
Silver tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hayabusa was well out of range. Poor timing from Silver.
Silver misses the jab.
It seemed like Hayabusa was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Silver looks to score with a jab to the body but Hayabusa is just out of range.
A nice side step and Hayabusa releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Silver swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Hayabusa let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Silver throws a poor cross that misses
and Hayabusa counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Hayabusa lands with an uppercut that bounces Silver off the cage and back into range.
Silver is looking to wear down Hayabusa with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.
Hayabusa loads up on a big right hand but Silver slips the punch.
The fighters circling - Silver throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Hayabusa feints the counter takedown.
Silver tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hayabusa was well out of range. Poor timing from Silver.
Silver throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Silver has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Silver thuds his shin into the meat of Hayabusa's side.
Silver looks for the body kick but Hayabusa saw that one coming.

and Hayabusa counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Hayabusa pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Silver is keeping the position for now.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Hayabusa content to stall in guard here.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Hayabusa sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Silver's guard.

Hayabusa moves nicely into side control.
Silver tries to buck Hayabusa off but Hayabusa is having none of it.

Silver is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Silver regains half guard.
Hayabusa passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Silver!
Silver is squirming around, avoiding Hayabusa's attempts to control the action.
Hayabusa looking to control and managing it successfully.
Hayabusa is trying to take his opponent's back.
Silver is looking to get to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Silver tries to hold on but Hayabusa postures up.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hayabusa looking to finish Silver with some ground and pound. This is bad for Silver!
Silver can't escape the position.
Silver stops Hayabusa from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

Hayabusa is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Silver can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Hayabusa is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Silver is in real trouble.
You can see the frustration on Silver's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Akira Hayabusa dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Silver throws a front kick aimed at Hayabusa's knee but Hayabusa avoids it well.
Hayabusa drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Silver defends it well.

Hayabusa bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hayabusa looks up at the clock and then as Silver takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Hayabusa smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Hayabusa works to advance to full mount. Silver defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Silver tries to lock up and control but Hayabusa gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Hayabusa landing punches.
Silver tries to hold on but Hayabusa postures up.
Hayabusa in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Hayabusa lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Hayabusa moves to his opponent's back but Silver bucks him off and ends up in guard. A bit of a disaster there for Hayabusa.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silver throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hayabusa works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Silver postures up in Hayabusa's guard and throws a big left but Hayabusa blocks it.
Silver wants to control from the top but Hayabusa keeps moving.
Silver might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Silver is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Hayabusa is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Silver trying to move into half guard but instead Hayabusa has managed to sweep!

Hayabusa slips nicely into half guard.

Hayabusa is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Hayabusa working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Silver's thigh. Silver counters though and makes it back to full guard.

Silver escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hayabusa gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Silver trying to punch from his back but it's not doing any damage.

Hayabusa content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Silver has locked up a guillotine! Silver's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Hayabusa is holding on here and Silver must be using up a lot of energy. Hayabusa has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Silver gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Nathan Silver!
A relieved looking Nathan Silver thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
The defeated Akira Hayabusa had this to say: 'Watashi mo kakushin shimashita. Shikashi, kare no A - gēmu o motarasu tame ni watashi no aite ni furukurejitto. Ōku no sonkei. Watashi no manējā no matto no okage de, watashi no suponsā. Hon'nō to makyaberi. Modotte kimasu. Arigatō'.
