Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dennis Acevedo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Borys Mankowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dennis Acevedo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Borys Mankowski!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Josh West.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mankowski closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Acevedo's guard.
Acevedo has momentary wrist control but Mankowski slips an elbow through the middle.
Mankowski wants to get up but he can't break Acevedo's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Mankowski stays in close to Acevedo's body and controls the position.
Acevedo lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Acevedo wants to control from the top but Mankowski keeps moving.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mankowski wants to hit a switch here but Acevedo passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Mankowski there!
Acevedo cracks Mankowski with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

What can Mankowski do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!

Acevedo has the hooks in. Mankowski is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Acevedo has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Mankowski has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Acevedo is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mankowski is trying to get back to full guard.
Mankowski is refusing to be controlled, as Acevedo sits in half guard.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Mankowski bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Acevedo tries to improve position but can't.
You can see the frustration on Acevedo's face as Mankowski controls the position.

The referee asks Mankowski politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Mankowski prefers to stall for the moment though.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Acevedo gets caught napping as Mankowski dives in and scores a takedown. Acevedo manages to retain guard.

Acevedo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Mankowski wants to pass the guard but Acevedo is keeping the position.

Borys Mankowski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!



Mankowski shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Acevedo manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Let's hope that Mankowski has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Dennis Acevedo is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Mankowski feints and as Acevedo raises his hands in defense, Mankowski changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mankowski stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Acevedo swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mankowski is pressing down on Acevedo's thigh, looking to free his foot. Acevedo is holding on for now.

Borys Mankowski comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mankowski has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
