Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ichi Takeshi!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 29 - 21 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Chibi Tsushima!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takeshi tries to close the distance and clinch but Tsushima swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Takeshi shoots in for a takedown but Tsushima shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Tsushima steps in looking to counter with the mid kick but it doesn't connect.
Tsushima has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Tsushima misses with a wild body shot.
Takeshi tries to counter with a takedown but Tsushima is quick to defend against it.
Takeshi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Takeshi shoots in for a takedown but Tsushima shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ichi Takeshi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Tsushima defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Takeshi.
Tsushima uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Takeshi has time to react.

Takeshi shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Tsushima is on top in guard.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Takeshi takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Tsushima lands a nice shot to the head.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Takeshi is squirming around, avoiding Tsushima's attempts to control the action.

Tsushima avoids the attempt from Takeshi to control.

Tsushima is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Takeshi has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Takeshi!

Takeshi lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Tsushima is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Takeshi keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Tsushima's head.

Takeshi has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Tsushima has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Takeshi has passed into side control.

Tsushima is looking to regain half guard here but Takeshi keeps moving and retains side control.
Takeshi fails to land a wild elbow strike.

Takeshi tries to advance to mount but Tsushima denies him.
Tsushima looking for a sweep but Takeshi has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Tsushima sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Tsushima is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Takeshi's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Takeshi's back!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Takeshi grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.

Tsushima has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.

Tsushima is working for the choke. It looks like he might have got it... has he...? Yes! Takeshi is tapping out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 6:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Chibi Tsushima!
Chibi Tsushima is the new bantamweight champion!
Chibi Tsushima gave a mention to Sun-Tzu in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
The defeated Ichi Takeshi had this to say: 'Son of a!!!! great shame I great shame Sorry I need more strong in spirit. '.
