The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brooks slips a straight right by Rection.

Brooks drives through with a takedown into Rection's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Brooks not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Rection is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Brooks engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Brooks stands up over Rection, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Brooks is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Brooks is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Brooks postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Brooks has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Rection is looking to stand up but Brooks isn't so interested in that idea.
Brooks cracks Rection with a solid left hand.

Brooks stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Rection ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Brooks moves away.
Rection swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
A nice combination there by Rection.
Rection tries to bum rush Brooks with a series of wild strikes but Brooks uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Brooks really is a fat lump.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rection throws a right and a left that both miss.
A cross from Rection lands.

Oooooh!!! Rection has knocked Brooks down with a huge combo! Rection steps away and waves a wobbly Brooks back to his feet! This one might not go much longer!

It looks like Tommie Brooks has been cut.
Hugh Rection seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Brooks looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Rection has cracked Brooks with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Rection lands another huge swinging hook and Brooks tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Brooks, before Rection can land any more shots!
