PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zack Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williams has chosen Get up on my Level as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Kevin Hogan has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Williams has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Hogan is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Hogan wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Williams breaks from the clinch.
Williams swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hogan appears to be looking for a big counter.
Williams tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hogan swivels and escapes.
Hogan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Williams clinches up with Hogan and pushes him back against the cage.

Williams escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Williams is trying hard to land a takedown here. Hogan sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Williams dives in and grabs Hogan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Hogan pushes down on Williams's head and hops out.

Hogan throws a knee to the head but misses.

Williams tries to score a power double leg takedown but Hogan sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Williams somewhat.
Hogan is looking to counter the offense by Williams and move into the clinch.

Williams drives through and clinches with Hogan against the cage.

Hogan scores with a knee to the head.

Williams jumps into guard, dragging Hogan to the mat.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hogan cracks Williams with a solid left hand.
Hogan throws a big elbow that misses.

Williams looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Williams is looking to stand up but Hogan isn't so interested in that idea.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Williams rushes Hogan and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

That was a close round but I would say that Kevin Hogan will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Williams throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Williams throws a push kick but Hogan slaps the foot to one side.
Williams changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hogan tries to avoid it but Williams manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hogan to the ground. Hogan escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Hogan throws a big counter combination but Williams scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Williams doesn't manage to clinch there - Hogan circles away.

Williams has taken the fight to the clinch.

Hogan throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Williams blocks it with crossed arms.
Hogan lands with a right to the head.

Williams changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hogan looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Hogan tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Williams fails to land a wild elbow strike.
Hogan is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Williams is controlling him well.

Williams sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Hogan is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Hogan avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Williams.
Hogan tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Williams presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Williams lands a big shot there that rocks Hogan but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Williams is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Williams!

A determined Zack Williams didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
