The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Armiger scores with a hook to the body. McDonagh takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Armiger darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
A punch lands to the side of McDonagh 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Armiger throws a right and a left that McDonagh avoids nicely.
Armiger takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Armiger shoots and misses
and McDonagh counters with a series of strikes. Armiger will be more careful next time no doubt.
Armiger avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
McDonagh pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Armiger throws a looping overhand right but McDonagh ducks down to avoid it.
John Armiger seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Armiger moves away from the strike by McDonagh.

Armiger looks to land a combination but McDonagh avoids it well.
A slow jab from Armiger misses its intended target.
Armiger displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McDonagh.

Armiger slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
McDonagh walks into a stiff left hand from Armiger.
McDonagh dodges the punch combination from Armiger.
McDonagh feinted there with a counter leg kick.
A looping hook to the body misses from McDonagh. Armiger does a little dance to reset his feet.
McDonagh takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Armiger throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nice takedown defense from Armiger. No joy for McDonagh on that attempt.

McDonagh on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
