Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dave Macias (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yoosuf Rizk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Rizk's choice of entrance music: Fantomas - Rosemary's Baby. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Dave Macias!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Yoosuf Rizk!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Edson Gomes and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Macias shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Rizk's guard.
Macias wants to stand and escape but instead Rizk has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Macias has his hands on Rizk's head, controlling the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rizk wants to stand but Macias has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Macias holds on and takes a little breather.

Rizk postures up in Macias's guard and throws a big left but Macias blocks it.

Macias wants to improve his position but Rizk is controlling well.
Rizk is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.

Rizk closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Macias is trying to control Rizk's posture but Rizk avoids it.
Macias seems a little lost for a moment, as Rizk dominates the positioning.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Macias tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.

and Macias counters with a one-two to the body.
Macias checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Macias takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Rizk throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Macias to counter with a crisp jab.

Rizk shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Macias manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Macias will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Macias is looking to stand up but Rizk isn't so interested in that idea.
Macias knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rizk on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Macias enables Rizk to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Macias manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Rizk tries to free his leg and advance position but Macias is retaining full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Rizk might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Macias haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Rizk shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Macias is trying to defend but Rizk finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Macias has his hands clasped together around Rizk's back. He's all about the action.
Rizk wants to control but Macias is keeping him busy.
Rizk content to control rather than advance.
Macias really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Let's hope that Rizk has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

A close second round but Yoosuf Rizk will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Rizk tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Rizk has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Rizk decides to stand up, so the ref orders Macias to his feet.
Rizk moves to clinch but Macias breaks away
and Macias counters with a nice uppercut.
Rizk keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Rizk tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Rizk fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Macias sprawls well initially but Rizk persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Macias is not content to let Rizk control the position.

Rizk tries to pass the half guard into mount. Macias knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Rizk seems to be looking for submissions.

Macias makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Rizk is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Rizk wants to control from the top but Macias keeps moving.
Macias is trying to hold Rizk in close to prevent damage but Rizk has managed to pass into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Rizk looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Macias is trying to stand back up but Rizk is controlling him

Macias is pulling down on Rizk's head. It's preventing any offense from Rizk, at least for the moment.
