Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marco Polo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy West (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Polo might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to On The Floor. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Marco Polo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 19 - 1, fighting out of Helsinki, Randy West!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Colin Fray and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Polo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts West as he jumps to the side.
Polo on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
We've been hearing reports that Polo has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Polo has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from West.
Polo fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Marco Polo. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Polo shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. West manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Polo is fighting to break West's control of his arms but West is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Polo shoots in looking for a takedown. West tries to sprawl out of it but Polo keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. West manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
West slaps away a takedown attempt from Polo, before circling back to the center of the mat.

West is struggling to control the position.
Polo is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but West is defending well.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Polo has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics West uses from the top position.
West must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

West not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Polo shoots in for a double leg but West sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Polo takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Polo shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Polo tries a head kick but it misses.
West looks to land a left hand but Polo moved out of range nicely.
West misses with the combination.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Polo is defended easily by West.

It looked like Polo was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

West has managed to clinch.

West has Polo pressed against the cage, preventing Polo from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
West lands an elbow that stopped Polo in his tracks for a moment.


It looks like Marco Polo has been cut.
Polo has West pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. West manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
West tries a knee to the head but Polo blocks it.

Polo manages to break the clinch.
West lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Both fighters circling a little - West finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
West slips a straight right by Polo.
West goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts West, as that shot connected.
A left lands for West.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
West swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Polo appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Polo tries to score a power double leg takedown but West sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Polo somewhat.
West throws a head kick but Polo moves out of range.
Polo doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Randy West is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
West stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and West wants it to stay on the feet.

West throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Polo stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Polo shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with West but West pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A nice side step and West releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

West feints and then cracks Polo's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Polo down.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now West is on top in guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
West throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Polo works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

West appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
No luck for Polo with that takedown attempt.
West fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Polo on the side of the head.
Polo doesn't succeed with the takedown
and West counters with a lovely straight right hand!
West connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
West scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Randy West seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Polo tried to score with a low kick but West checks it.
Polo moves out of range of the body kick from West.
West connects with a right hand. Polo shakes it off.

West fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and West cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
West tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
West has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Randy West comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got West winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
