PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zod Wettin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lock Bresnar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wettin's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, If You Dare by Jim Johnston. Bresnar has chosen ABOVE THE LAW - murder rap as his entrance music. Lock Bresnar is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 1, fighting out of London, Zod Wettin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 8 - 1, fighting out of New York, Lock Bresnar!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Anthony Taglia and Franklyn Lucas.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bresnar throws out a loose jab but Wettin uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lock Bresnar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bresnar throws a big shot that misses.
Bresnar throws a shot from downtown. Wettin moves away and avoids it.
Wettin fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Wettin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Bresnar avoids it really well and circles away.
A punch combination from Bresnar misses.
Bresnar throws a body punch but Wettin moves out of range.
Wettin was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bresnar throws a big shot that misses.
Wettin appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Wettin throws a leg kick which misses Bresnar's front leg but catches the back leg as Bresnar tries to avoid it.
Bresnar throws a jab when Wettin was well out of range.
Wettin looks for a takedown but Bresnar sprawls well.

Bresnar throws a jab but it's blocked by Wettin.
Bresnar connects with a right hand. Wettin shakes it off.
Wettin slips under a jab.
Wettin is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Bresnar takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.


It looks like Zod Wettin has been cut.
Bresnar misses the shot to the body.

Wettin gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Bresnar pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Bresnar misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Bresnar throws a shot from downtown. Wettin moves away and avoids it.
Wettin feinted with a counter takedown.
Bresnar lands a nice looking body shot.
Bresnar sizes up Wettin with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Wettin looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wettin shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Bresnar napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Bresnar is looking for a sweep.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Bresnar tries to get back to half guard but can't.
A bit of a lull in the action here.
Bresnar prevents Wettin from improving position.
Bresnar can't do much from the bottom here.
Wettin sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Bresnar is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Wettin landing with strikes to the head and body from side control.

The referee asks Wettin politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Wettin prefers to stall for the moment though.

Wettin is trying to move to mount but Bresnar reverses beautifully and ends up in Wettin's guard.
We've been hearing good reports from Wettin's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Wettin tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Bresnar is looking to work some ground and pound but Wettin has wrist control.
Bresnar throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wettin works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Wettin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bresnar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bresnar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Wettin wants to sweep but no luck.

Let's hope that Bresnar has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Bresnar throws a big right hand that misses.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bresnar accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lock Bresnar dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Zod Wettin's cut.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!


Wettin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Wettin lands a body shot.
Bresnar has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bresnar connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Wettin's hands.
No luck for Wettin with that takedown attempt.
Wettin walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Bresnar misses with a double jab.
Bresnar looks to throw the jab but Wettin is out of range.
Wettin swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Bresnar connects with a body shot.
Bresnar cracks Wettin with a good jab.

Wettin looks for a takedown but Bresnar sprawls well.
Bresnar swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Bresnar sends Wettin crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Bresnar is motioning to the referee to let Wettin up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!

Bresnar thows a left - swing and a miss!
Bresnar might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Wettin blocks a jab.
Bresnar lands a jab to the head.
Bresnar throws a left and a right that both miss
letting Wettin counter with a right hand.

Bresnar drops Wettin with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Wettin looks back up at him and smiles so Bresnar waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Wettin is rocked!
Bresnar loads up on a big right hand but Wettin slips the punch.
Oh Wettin is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Wettin leaves his chin hanging out and Bresnar seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Wettin crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:16 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Lock Bresnar!
