PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Temujin Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kwiwan Fogomayu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Fogomayu's choice of entrance music: Kyamadu. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Temujin Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 1, fighting out of London, Kwiwan Fogomayu!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Paul Aken and Patrick Alders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee scores with the left hand. Fogomayu knows he should have avoided that one.
Lee looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Some bone on bone action there as Lee checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one.
Fogomayu tries a head kick but it misses.
Fogomayu attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Lee misses with a left hand
enabling Fogomayu to counter with a crisp jab.
Lee takes a swing at Fogomayu's ribcage but misses.
Lee dodges the punch combination from Fogomayu.
Lee tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Fogomayu manages to circle out of the way.
Lee scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Fogomayu blocks a head kick by Lee.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lee works over Fogomayu's head and body with a nice combination.
Lee connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fogomayu gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Lee is working Fogomayu over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Lee in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

Fogomayu is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lee is aware though and is defending well.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Fogomayu is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Lee seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Fogomayu looks to land a right hand but Lee moved out of range.

Fogomayu is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Temujin Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Fogomayu wants to control but Lee passes easily into half guard.

Lee seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Fogomayu is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Lee is looking to take a break and control but Fogomayu is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Fogomayu moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Lee stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Fogomayu swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Lee controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lee is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Fogomayu pulls Lee in close to prevent any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Lee tries to clinch there but Fogomayu circles away.
Fogomayu throws a right hand that Lee ducks under and follows up with a left that Lee also avoids with ease.
Fogomayu throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Lee throws out a loose jab but Fogomayu uses good head movement to avoid it.
A little jabbing left from Fogomayu on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Lee lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Temujin Lee is winning the standup battle so far.
Lee throws a right hand that misses
and Fogomayu counters with an outside leg kick.
Lee misses with a hook.
Fogomayu appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.

Lee closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Fogomayu to the mat! Fogomayu manages to get full guard.
Lee is looking to work some ground and pound but Fogomayu has wrist control.
Temujin Lee overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Fogomayu lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Lee is trying to keep Fogomayu in close.

Fogomayu slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Fogomayu's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Lee has a butterfly guard looking to sweep but Fogomayu has passed into side control.

Lee is not content to let Fogomayu control the position.
Lee tries to bench press Fogomayu off him but Fogomayu keeps the position.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Lee manages to work his way to half guard, despite Fogomayu's best efforts.
Fogomayu winds up and cracks Lee with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Lee holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Fogomayu working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Fogomayu is thwarting Lee's attempts to control the position.

Fogomayu is pressing down on Lee's thigh, looking to free his foot. Lee is holding on for now.

Fogomayu throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Lee throws a head kick but Fogomayu moves out of range.
Fogomayu just misses with a punch to the body.
Fogomayu takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Lee connects with a single shot there.
Fogomayu fails to land with a series of punches.

enabling Fogomayu to counter with a crisp jab.

Lee is looking to chop away at Fogomayu's legs.

Lee tries a low kick but Fogomayu avoids it.
A little jabbing left from Fogomayu on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Fogomayu throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Fogomayu has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Lee wants to clinch

and Fogomayu counters with a single leg into guard. Lee didn't expect that.

Lee has his foot on Fogomayu's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fogomayu works his way back into a safe position though.
Lee bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Fogomayu's guard.

A close second round but Kwiwan Fogomayu will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Fogomayu finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Fogomayu lands with a cross.
Fogomayu gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Lee.
Lee uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Lee lands with a thumping leg kick.
Fogomayu ducks under a wild hook from Lee.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lee tries to close the distance and clinch but Fogomayu swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Fogomayu throws a shot from downtown. Lee moves away and avoids it.
A solid leg kick lands there for Fogomayu.
Fogomayu keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lee.
Fogomayu takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Lee uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Fogomayu.

Fogomayu throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Lee cracks Fogomayu with a right hand to the side of the head.
Lee fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Fogomayu.
Lee shoots in but no luck this time.
Lee dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Fogomayu. That did some damage!
Lee connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Fogomayu tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lee lands a high kick!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Fogomayu throws a body punch but Lee moves out of range.
Lee avoids a kick to the body.
Fogomayu swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Fogomayu paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Lee misses with a kick to the body.
Lee throws a sloppy head kick and Fogomayu moves out of range easily.
Lee swings away with a leg kick that misses.
A jab lands there for Fogomayu.

Fogomayu lands a jab to the head.

and Fogomayu counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lee's knee momentarily.
Lee scores with a crisp jab that stopped Fogomayu in his tracks.
Lee throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
Lee lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Lee throws a head kick that misses
and Fogomayu counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
Fogomayu is looking to slow Lee down with leg kicks.
Fogomayu defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Lee.
It seemed like Fogomayu was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Fogomayu throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Lee takes one to the side of the head.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Fogomayu uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Lee.

Lee closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Lee lands in his opponent's guard.

Fogomayu is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Lee tries to free his leg and advance position but Fogomayu is retaining full guard.
Fogomayu tries to land a sweep but no joy.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Temujin Lee.
Well Lee has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
